To get right to some useful advice, click on the Articles or Useful Links tabs to the left or from the drop down list above.  I am no longer doing public accounting work, but have left my articles and useful links for your reference, as I believe they discuss important issues.  Some information may be out of date – however, you should work with your own professional accountant and tax advisor.  If you see issues of interest to you, address with them with your advisors to ensure you have up to date facts.

I founded my own Chartered Accountant (CA) (now Chartered Professional Accountant – CPA)  business in 2000 and effective January 1, 2014, sold the public accounting portion of the business to my colleagues. Instead of retiring then as planned, and due to the demand for hourly-based fee for service financial planning and for financial advice for separating and divorcing individuals, I established a new business, Blair Corkum Financial Planning Inc. My focus became fee-for -service (i.e., no commissions, referral fees or product sales) personal financial planning and objective divorce counselling.  It has been very rewarding, and in 2026, after 50 years in the financial industry, it is time to slow down.  Thanks to everyone.
