Contact Me
I am retiring and I am now only taking on new appointments in exceptional circumstances.
I am continuing to work for the time being with Prince Edward Island residents dealing with long-term care financial issues, certain tax and estate matters for older adults, and specific referrals from non-profit organizations with which I am connected. Unfortunately, unless it is urgent, I am normally booking 3 months in the future – yes, it is lonely in my niche in PEI. I am also doing group seminars on retirement, estate, tax and other personal financial planning topics, as well as divorce financial matters, if requested to do so, as hired by employers or as a volunteer for non-profit organization. Certainly, if you have questions that may have brief answers that I can answer by email or phone, contact me (see below) and I will respond to let you know what I can do.
If you need help to find another professional, see the very bottom of this page for useful links to find other financial professionals but note my following comments. For most of the services I provide as a “fee for service” hourly based planner, you need someone with appropriate professional credentials, but not necessarily someone licensed to sell product. Consequently, you could use a professional from another province although it may not be as convenient nor as easy as an in-person meeting. Unfortunately, the Find A Planner sites do not sort by hourly based fee for service versus a percentage fee based on assets being managed, so you will need to do some enquiries.
I do not know any fee for service planners in the Maritimes for a direct referral, and so you may need to work with someone in a another time zone. For example, a couple financial planners who have their R.F.P. designations and are fee for service planners in Western Canada include Derek Moran, R.F.P. – Kelowna, B.C., https://www.whencaniquit.ca/ and Ron Graham, CPA, C.A., R.F.P., CFP – Edmonton, AB, https://rgafinancial.com/

PO Box 1201, Charlottetown, PE, C1A 7M8
Office Location:
45 Maple Hills Avenue, Charlottetown, PE in the Charlottetown Airport Business Park – open by appointment only. The building (pictured below) is located at the corner of Brackley Point Road (PEI highway #15) and Maple Hills Avenue (a continuation of MacAleer Drive and not to be confused with Maple Avenue). Maple Hills Avenue is one of two streets leading to the Charlottetown Airport (Sherwood Road being the other). It is the first right after crossing the Charlottetown bypass highway (TransCanada Hwy#1) on Brackley Point Road if you are leaving the city, and the first left after the roundabout if you are headed into the city. The office is the first driveway on the left. You will see signage upon arrival for Sun Life and Cox & Associates Financial Services Inc., from whom I sublet my office premises, but I am independent and it is an office rental arrangement only, not a professional affiliation.

FINDING OTHER SIMILAR PROFESSIONALS
If I am not able to meet your needs, see Find A Professional at these sites, with many advisors able to provide advice in other provinces:
Find a Registered Financial Planner (the R.F.P. is the strongest designation and where you will most likely find a fee-only planner) – Institute of Advanced Financial Planners . While I recommend hourly based fee-for-service professionals to replace my role, you may be interested in those who sell product and get paid by either a sales commission (i.e., only when you buy or sell something) or by a continuing percentage fee calculated based on your total investment portfolio, e.g. 1% of your investments (fee based on AUM (assets under management). If you are long-term buy-and-hold investor, I recommend the sales commission basis; if you are a frequent trader and need constant advice, then the AUM fee may be more suitable and less expensive. Your advisor should recommend the choice that is in your best interests. See my article for more discussion on this topic.
