Real Estate Ownership Worksheet

If you’ve read Whose Property Is It, Really?, you already know that families often add a child or spouse to a property’s title without ever writing down what everyone actually intended — and that silence can create tax and legal problems years later.

This worksheet is a tool to help you capture the facts while everyone still remembers them: who is on title, who paid for what, who makes the decisions, and what was really meant to happen. It is not a legal document, and completing it does not decide anything on its own. It is meant to be filled in at home and then brought to your lawyer and your accountant, so your meeting with them is more productive and less costly.
